CLR Landscapes is an established landscaping business, now based in Spetisbury, Blandford Forum. We undertake landscape and garden redesign, which includes paving, patios, fencing, decking, ponds/water features, lighting, hedge trimming, topiary, lawn care, planting (including advice on suitable plants for your soil type and conditions) as well as general maintenance and garden care.

Each garden is individually designed by Carl Richards, the proprietor, to meet the client’s brief and garden design needs. All work is carefully supervised by Carl himself.
We are committed to caring for plants in a way that will maximise their potential and meet the requirements of individual customers and circumstances.
Following his initial training with a firm based in Rake nr. Petersfield, Carl moved to Bournemouth, working, amongst other places, at a private school caring for the grounds. Setting up in business in 1985 Carl obtained Distinction in a City & Guilds Course II Certificate in Horticulture, taken at Kingston Maurward College in 1987.
In 1989 Carl obtained the required certification for authorised use of Chemical Application tests PA1 & PA6. In 1990 Carl obtained Distinction in General Certificate of Horticulture.
Landscaping
Small Displays, in otherwise barren forecourts and parking areas, which out of necessity must use little ground space, can draw attention and make the area pleasing to the eye.
Small gardens and sections of ground, often associated with shops and terraces, can be made attractive and welcoming. Even a lack of such space does not prevent one obtaining pleasure from plants.
Areas of land around buildings, whether residential or commercial, often left derelict or badly maintained can become an asset, improving your property and the environment.

Hedge Cutting
Hedging provides seclusion and security acts as a wind break and whether informal or formal, adds interest to the garden and acts as a foil for your garden, it also provides a wildlife habitat.
However, hedges that are not cut become misshapen, taking more space than desired, including becoming obstructions for public foot-path and as they grow out of control their maintenance becomes more difficult and for some species difficult to return to an attractive manageable shape.
It is therefore important to give them a cut at least once a year. We cut hedges for our customers and this service can be included in a garden maintenance schedule.
Grass Cutting
We mow lawns of varying sizes. We can offer a one-off or regular lawn mowing for your garden.
Pruning
Maintenance is not all about the hedge trimmer, shears and lawn mowers, your plants do best if pruned correctly. When and how plants are pruned depends primarily on the species/variety and then on the specific need for pruning, for example the plant has become unruly and requires more drastic cutting, to provide access or bring it back into productive flowering/ fruiting. We have extensive knowledge of pruning across an extensive array of plants.
Planting
We can provide planting ideas, supply and locate the chosen plants, or work your own purchases, or lift and relocate your existing plants. Should it be necessary we can supply sundry items such as composts, tree stakes and ties, to ensure the best start for your individual specimens or planting scheme.
Weed Killing
Application of herbicides is used as part of our routine maintenance services (if the client accepts)
We use sparingly to control, but do not use preventative residual herbicides.
Green waste removal
When removing garden waste we are licensed for waste disposal and send the waste to Down End Composting and recycling or Eco Sustainable Solutions, ensuring that the waste is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. You can trust us to treat both your garden and our wider environment with care.
